What is BPH?

Symptoms of BPH

Men with BPH may experience some of the following lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS):

• Urinary urgency: A sudden and strong need to urinate
• Urinary frequency: Needing to urinate more often than usual, including at night (nocturia)
• Hesitancy: Difficulty starting urination
• Incomplete bladder emptying: Feeling like you haven't emptied your bladder completely
• Weak urine stream
• Dribbling after urination

How Does UroLift® Work?

The UroLift® System is a minimally invasive procedure performed at Urology Specialists of Ohio to treat BPH. Here's a general overview:

• You will receive local anesthesia or light sedation.
• A small device is inserted through the urethra to visualize the prostate gland.
• Tiny implants (UroLifts®) are placed under the prostate to hold open the blocked urethra, relieving pressure and improving urine flow.
• The procedure typically takes less than an hour.

Enlarged Prostate

An enlarged prostate can narrow or even block the urethra.

Step 1

The UroLift Delivery Device is placed through the obstructed urethra to access the enlarged prostate.

Step 2

Small UroLift Implants are permanently placed to lift or hold the enlarged prostate tissue out of the way and increase the opening of the urethra. The permanent Implants are delivered through a small needle that comes out of the UroLift Delivery Device and into the prostate.

Step 3

The UroLift Delivery Device is removed, leaving an open urethra designed to provide symptom relief.
